Fast forward

It seems like someone hit the fast forward button on life, and I need to find the pause! The last month has been a blur of activity, always some where to go or somewhere to be. I will do a week by week recap to get you updated!

April 15th to 21st
The kids and I went to the health fair at local high school. I really wanted to go for the bicycle helmets! St Louis children's hospital was there selling helmets and fitting them to the kids. The kids also got to climb in the cab of a fire truck. Great fun when you are 3 & 5! It was such a last minute thing, i wasn't able to get any pictures.
Later in the week we to the book fair and bought the kids some more books! Amelia got a rainbow magic, rainbow magical animal fairy book. It is a book series that was recommended to us by a friend. She chose Ashley the dragon fairy. She loved this one and I think we will be be getting more of them. She also picked out summer pony. We are still reading that one, so far it has been a good read for her.  Lucas picked out when a dragon moves in and duck at the door. We even bought a book about the presidents for amelia's classroom!! The school had a snow cone truck out front so we bought the kids a snow cone and sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather!! The kids love getting new books and I enjoy the change too!
April 18th Amelia celebrated her birthday with her school friends! She was given a special crown to wear, a certificate and I brought cupcakes for the kids! I think she enjoyed all the attention from her school friends! She was queen for the day! It was definitively an eventful and fun week!

Ferdinand

this is one of his favorite places to be - on a shoulder, hanging out. He is really more like a baby/dog mix than a cat. He has a ton of nicknames; ferdi-man, fermando, ferdog-do, ferdilicious, little dog and plain ole ferd! He is a super sweet kitten and is so docile. We wern't looking for a kitten when he came along, but were are glad he found us.

spring break (woo hoo!!)

Amelia had a brief spring vacation or as I hear it in my head every time , Spring Break WHOO HOO! I only had one day off to spend with the kids, so my friend Angela and I thought Suson Park would be fun. I had been once, but it was when Amelia was about a year old. The weather up to this day had been perfect so park and a picnic lunch was planned. Until the weather forecast called for overcast, rain and a cold front! boo! So instead, we decided to take the kids to the craft caboose. The kids had a blast! They all painted a wooden silhouette, then picked a smaller 2nd project. Lucas chose a wooden dino for his first project and a lion sun catcher for his 2nd. Amelia choose a wooden butterfly to paint and then made a wooded Ariel for her 2nd craft. It was a great place for a cold spring day! The owner was super helpful, had lots of patients and even had a super cute puppy in the back room! We will definitely be going back over the summer.

More than once, I have heard about the sugar shack. It is an old time candy store that also sells cake pops. The cake pops were reportedly pretty heavenly. I was quite excited to try one. The place was darling. Lots of old touches, and a small cubby for the kids with chalk wall all around. Only one thing was missing - the cake pops! The cake maker takes the month of April off!! We were 5 days too late! She also advised us to call next time to make sure she had them! oh well, better luck next time! We still had a great time!

Moonlit easter egg hunt

I saw this idea online and thought it would be super fun! Put glow sticks in an easter egg and put them out for the kids to find, The kids loved it and once they were collected (we only had 10 :) we tossed them out for round two! We will be repeating this again next year - and I will make sure to stock up on the glow rings - not bracelets! they were tricky to get inside the eggs.

catching up

what has happened? where have i been? well - life i guess. The kids are busy, i am busy. the kids keep me busy. January, February and March have passed and I have little to blog about. So not

like me! i have a camera everywhere i go....well - i used to. My rechargeable batteries died so my P&S camera's have been sitting idle for way too long! They go through regular batteries in about 5 pictures. you'll be happy to know I have replaced them! Let's see exactly what have we been up to:

***Available pics coming soon!***

january -
*Amelia lost her 3rd tooth!
*Amelia got a free trip to the ER when she fell on her floor vent in her room. one guess who took it out and had it on the floor upside down? A little dermabond and we were on our way! Looking back i think we should have pushed for stitches. well -i should have. i was the only adult there! Her wound busted open and had to heal from the inside out. she has a pretty impressive scar to show for it.
*lucas wore his yellow boots for the entire month of january. well - maybe just 30/31 days.
*lucas was able to discontinue his Keppra. NO MORE MEDS!! And the best thing is he remains seizure free.
*soon after Lucas came off his meds, he began stuttering. It was odd enough that I called Dr. Adam. He ordered an EEG. Lucas was a trooper for the EEG tech. A super cute trooper!
*Amelia celebrated 100 days of school!
*took the kids to see beauty and the beast 3D - love that movie
*lucas had his first dentist appointment

February
* i made a SOLO trip to Springfield to hang out and craft with my BFF Loriann. it was so much fun and I was very productive
*Lucas and I went to a mommy and me cooking class - lots of fun! i think i may have blogged that....
*I went to a pinterest meetup at the upcycle exchange with my friend Leanne. it was loads of fun, lots of good food and I made some crafts all by mydelf. almost unheard of!
*had a mini reunion with my dad's side of the family. love them and miss them! Hope we make a point to get together more often.
*amelia got what i am guessing is her 6 year molars.

March -
*Lucas had rodeo day
*Amelia went to her first father daughter dance
*We all went to the st. pat's parade in dogtown! including daddy!! love a saturday st. pat's!
* We went to the Easter extravaganza at eckert's with the Fab P ladies - Nicole, Mia and Kate!
* we spent the day with Trish, Robbie and Charlotte

So that is it! 3 months in one post. 2012 will get better!

PS - this post is brought to you by the Iphone and Facebook - without them i would not remember 1/100 of this!

childhood

To me this represents everything fun - laughter, swings, friends - just being carefree. I wish I could bottle this feeling up and store it away for these girls' teen years!

Our little author

Amelia's school participated in the young author contest this year.Of course we encouraged Amelia to participate. I had a hard time getting her to understand the concept that there had to be a character, the character had to do something interesting and it had to have a flow to it, even though we read to her 2 or more books per day, every day since she was born!! I finally started piecing it together for her. I would ask her the necessary questions and write down her answers. And she was really not into the character being named something other than Amelia!! We settled on Rosie - it made her pretty happy. Her story was about Rosie adopting a puppy, taking him home and everything he saw along the way. And how he met the animals at Rosie's house, which was actually a farm. Although she didn't win, she was recognized at her school for participating and received a certificate, medal and young author's pin! Hopefully next year she can create/write the entire thing herself.

father-daughter dance

My baby had her first father-daughter dance, I'm sure it will be a first of many dances. I cureld her hair and painted her nails. And she even got a corsage! Roses. Roses that she quickly noticed were the same shade of cream that my wedding bouquet was made of. She doesn't miss a beat, this girl of mine. I couldn't love her more. Or her Pop. Nothing but love for these two. And I had a pretty fun date myself that night. Toy story and mcdonalds with the sweetest boy ever! I'll take it!

Cooking with Louis Miguel? maybe one day

Lucas loves loves loves to cook! he will pretend cook in his kitchen or come cook with me in my kitchen. He loves to measure and stir and watch the oven while dinner is cooking. This was his second class at eckert's. It was quite fun - although all the dishes had to be "cooked" vs make and eat. it was challenging to get him to wait for his food! And he kept asking to go shopping in the country store! such a character. I hope when he is a famous chef he names his Food Network show "Cooking with Louis Miguel". i think it has a great ring to it!!
