so amelia has developed some super funny phrases that she loves to repeat over and over. They make Darrin and I laugh uncontrollably sometimes. she will catch us off guard and throw one out every now and again. For example:
mommy: amelia did you poop?
her: no, mia fine mommy, mia fine. (as she holds her hand up, shooing me away)
she has no idea the word "I" exists.
another one:
daddy: mia, what can Lukie eat?
her: lukie no eat feetza (pizza), no eat apples or ice cream. Lukie eat milk from mommies nipples. Nice, i know, but she does know where the milk comes from.
tonight at dinner:
her: jabber, jabber, jabber (we couldn't understand her at all) and look at me - right mommy??
what? did my baby just say right mommy?? Sure thing shortie, sure thing. where did she pick up that phrase?
every day:
it's ok lukie, no cry, you big sister right here.
mommy or daddy: amelia, what happens at night?
her: moon out and dark outside. mia no outside, fireflies get mia.
somehow, she has gotten mosquito's and butterflies confused. and she calls butterflies/moths/flies/winged bugs all fireflies. and she thinks they will all get her. We are not sure where this came from.
short story - My friend Lori was here for newborn pics of luke. we were having some family ones taken too so darrin was getting ready. Amelia wanted to be in the bathroom with him. I was feeding Luke so Lori went and scooped her up and brought her to the living room. as she is carrying her out, amelia screams "daddy, help me out!!!" in a very distressed voice. like, how can you let this woman tear me away from you. funny stuff!
SS #2 - amelia loves water. so does hugo. Hugo likes to drink it, amelia like to play in his drinking water. In our new house, there is only one good spot for hugo's water and it is within amelia's reach. so you see the problem. One day, mommy was exceptionally tired and amelia was exceptionally two. Mommy asked amelia to stay out of the water several times, amelia listened none. so amelia ended up in her room to think about what she had done and what mommy was asking her to do. "amelia, you need to find your listening ears. stay out of hugo's water dish, it is not to play in". Amelia is in her crib, unhappy about it at first, but then she quiets down and i hear her talking. to stretchy bear. "stretchy bear, you need listening ears. you no no play in gogo's water" i now know that she can and does understand me, she just chooses to ignore what i say :)
Random funny - one day amelia was being crabby and crying over everything. she turns to me and says "mommy, Mia feeling fussy. i need mia's fussy" which is what she now calls her pacifier. and she feels fussy often!!
I am loving this stage with her. she is so interactive and talkative. I'm sure one day I will want her to be quiet, but for now, we welcome her conversations!
